Top 10 Hip Fall Fashion Trends(Ladies)
By Ashlea, Hipsterpad.com || |
The temperature is not the only thing that is changing this October, fall is here and its time to gear up from some serious hipster fashion trends. We will see a couple of returning appearances this fall, like the skinny pant who made its debut last year. However, there are quite a few new trends that you are going to need to brush up on, lest you leave your house looking…GASP! So last season.
 |
Black and White
It would appear that black is the new black. This fall, color is taking a back seat to the classic combo of black and white. To avoid looking like a zebra on the loose (very NOT hip), mix up the black and white with a few neutrals suck as moss or khaki, or really mix it up with a punch of red or leopard. |
 |
Tights
With hemlines on the rise, and temperatures well…not, what is a girl to do? Tights, they are so very hipster this fall and unlike some fashion trends of the past (hip huggers anyone?) tights put the fun in functional. They are also oh-so-versatile. They can be paired with a great boot (as seen here), or with flats. |
 |
The Tall Boot
Another classic that will be returning this fall is the tall boot. Why wouldn’t we see this hip fashion staple again? It is completely versatile and can look great with so many pieces. Pair it with short skirts, long skirts, and any skirt in between. It can also be sported into spring with a great pair of shorts. Then there is the obvious choice of pants, sport your pants tucked in or out depending on the boot. |
 |
Raising Hemlines
Temperatures may be dropping, however this does not mean you should cover up every inch of skin. With hip options like tights, leggings, and boots, why not sport a flirty skirt well into December? The thing to remember is when you are showing lots of skin on bottom you want to cover up a little more on top. Try a long sleeved top or a hip sweater (cable knit is so hot this fall). |
 |
The Wedge
Need a lift? Not overly fond of great-legs-aching-foot stilettos? May I introduce you to the wedge. It comes in all shapes, sizes, and patterns, and is a hip alternative to heels. Try and avoid pairing a super high wedge with a short skirt, this look is more streetwalker than hip. |
 |
The Tailored Look
This fall menswear is inspiring the wardrobe of the fairer sex. The look is tailored, and the trick is to not overdue it, just because Ellen can pull of a head-to-toe men’s suit does not mean the rest of us should try it. Look for great things in plaid and tweed. Also structured jackets and men’s cut trousers are ultra hip this fall. |
 |
Seeing Red
Falls “it” color is definitely red. Punch up any bland outfit with a great red belt, or a chunky red necklace. One color to avoid pairing red with is pink. Also topping off an otherwise monochromatic outfit with a spunky red shoe is so hipster. |
 |
Bundle Up
How do you show off your hip wardrobe without hiding it under an oversized jacket? Layering is the answer. Like nothing else layering can really help stretch warm weather apparel into the next season. Whether it is a cute scarf and some leggings, or a collared shirt under a cute tee, layering is for sure hip this fall. |
 |
Flats
Flats are making a huge comeback as a fashion staple. They can be worn year round and this fall they will look great paired with, you guessed it, tights. A fun leopard print or sequined flat can make any outfit pop. And it is definitely oh-so-hipster to wear flats with everything: pants, skirts, dresses, shorts, denim, you name it, you can pair the right flat with it. |
 |
The Skinny Jean
Tuck it in a boot, scrunch it over a flat, pair it with some yummy yummy heels, the skinny jean is this seasons hippest come back. I will admit it, I am all for any trend that makes me look like I have legs up to my neck, and that look is oh-so-achievable with the skinny jean. A girl has gotta have one, if not ten, pair of this trendy staple. With such a great piece it is hard to go wrong in the pairing, but a good rule to follow is, tight on bottom loose on top and visa versa. Translation: don’t leave the house looking like an over-stuffed sausage. (Hint: try a nice peasant top instead). One more rule: please please do not ever, under any circumstance, pair a skinny jean with a chunky tennis shoe. |
Look, these are just guidelines. The most important ingredient to being hip every season is confidence. The key to wearing an outfit and not having IT wear YOU is to own it. So you caught yourself in the middle of a fashion faux pas, so what? Shrug it off, smile, and know that tomorrow is another day, and more importantly another outfit.
